These activations apply to a registered alarm system with a valid permit
The first 2 false alarm activations in a permit year will not be invoiced. For these types of activations, you will be notified by a ‘False Alarm Activation Notice’ sent in the US mail
The 1st and 2nd false alarm activations do not stop the MPD from responding to future activations within the permit year
These activations apply to a registered alarm system with a valid permit
Any false alarm activation after the first 2 in a permit year will be invoiced and sent to you in the US mail. Any billed false alarm invoice is expected to be paid in full within 20 days of the day the invoice was generated. There are multiple manners in which to submit payment
If payment is not submitted in a reasonable amount of time, you will then receive a certified mailing notifying you of non-payment. If payment is still not received in a reasonable time, then your registration (or your permit) can be changed to a status of suspended or revoked. The Alarm Ordinance Unit has the final decision on when a permit status is changed
If your permit is suspended or revoked, MPD response to future alarm system activations WILL BE STOPPED
Suspendable Alarm Activations
The 3rd through 6th alarm activations have the potential to place your permit into a status of suspended. MPD response will be started again after full payment is received for unpaid invoices
Revocable Alarm Activations
7 or more alarm activations have the potential to place your permit into a status of revoked. MPD response will be started again after full payment for unpaid invoices AND paperwork (which is determined by the Alarm Ordinance Unit) is received for all revocable activations
This activation applies to a registered alarm system which has not yet submitted full payment for their renewal by October 1st. As noted above, the permit year for a registered system ends at midnight on September 30th.
When the MPD responds to an alarm activation on or after October 1st and the renewal fee has not yet been received by the Alarm Ordinance Unit, an expired false alarm invoice will be sent to you in the US mail. The invoice will consist of a fee for the alarm activation, a fee for renewing the permit and possibly a late fee imposed by the Finance Department
This activation applies to an alarm system that is not registered with the Alarm Ordinance Unit.
When the MPD responds to an alarm activation and the Alarm Ordinance Unit has no registration on file for that location, a non-permitted fine will be sent to you in the US mail. The invoice will consist of a fee for the non-permitted activation and a fee for registering the permit
